Expanding Beyond Athens

Greece's culinary scene reaches a significant milestone as the Michelin Guide expands beyond Athens for the first time, including Thessaloniki and Santorini in its 2027 selection. The new edition covers 62 restaurants across the three destinations, nearly doubling the guide's coverage in Greece and showcasing the nation's evolving food culture.

Breakthrough for Santorini

The Santorini restaurant Lycabettus, located at the Andronis Luxury Suites hotel in Oia, made an impressive debut by earning two Michelin Stars at once. Perched above the caldera, the restaurant combines local ingredients with contemporary cooking and French-inspired techniques, supported by a wine cellar featuring more than 1,000 labels.

Santorini also claimed three of the seven new one-star distinctions, further strengthening its status as a major Mediterranean food destination. Four Athens restaurants—Aleria, see|ds, SENSE, and Simul—along with Santorini's Botrini’s Santorini, Lauda, and Selene, also received their first stars, bringing Greece's total in this category to 19 establishments.

Recognition for Thessaloniki

The inclusion of Thessaloniki marks a major development for Greece's second-largest city. The city's multicultural food traditions feature prominently among the new Bib Gourmand recipients, which recognise quality food at reasonable prices. Venues such as Deka Trapezia, Menu me… nou, Sintrofi, Three Little Pigs, and To Manitari have all been added to the list.

Additionally, 29-year-old Theodoros Kaloidis of To Manitari received the Michelin Young Chef Award, reflecting the growing prominence of young culinary talent shaping the future of Greek gastronomy.
