Expanding the Culinary Map in Greece
The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) announced that the MICHELIN Guide will release its restaurant selection for Greece for 2027 on October 20. This year's announcement marks a significant milestone, as evaluations have extended beyond the capital of Athens for the first time.
The inspections, carried out by independent and anonymous inspectors starting in December 2025, now encompass Thessaloniki and Santorini. This expansion aims to highlight the distinct culinary identities and rich gastronomic potential of these destinations to an international audience.
Recognition Categories
The guide's selection includes various levels of recognition, ranging from one to three MICHELIN Stars, alongside the MICHELIN Green Star awarded to establishments committed to sustainable practices. Additionally, the list will feature Bib Gourmand distinctions for good-quality food at reasonable prices, as well as other MICHELIN Selected restaurants.
GNTO Secretary General Andreas Fiorentinos stated that the partnership with the MICHELIN Guide strengthens the international profile of Greek gastronomy and showcases even more aspects of the country to travelers worldwide.
