  • Promotional films feature 63 locations across the region, directed by acclaimed filmmakers.
What it means for you

For Israeli travellers heading to Athens, this initiative highlights more diverse travel options beyond the historic centre. When planning your next trip, consider exploring the Athenian Riviera, nearby islands like Aegina, or mountain areas easily accessible from the capital.

A Fresh Vision for Attica Tourism

Local authorities in Athens and the wider Attica region have introduced their latest international tourism initiative, titled "Phenomenon". The campaign invites global audiences to explore the entire region as a multi-dimensional, year-round destination rather than a brief stopover.

Part of a comprehensive multi-year strategy, the project seeks to increase average visitor stays, boost tourism revenue outside the peak summer months, and distribute economic benefits to local communities across the twelve municipalities and areas of Attica.

Combining City and Nature

The core concept highlights Attica's unique ability to offer contrasting experiences within a single day. Visitors can explore metropolitan life and ancient monuments in the morning, and transition to coastal relaxation, wine-tasting in local vineyards, or mountain trails by the afternoon.

The promotional rollout features cinematic videos filmed across 63 different locations, ranging from historic central Athens and Piraeus to Sounio, Marathon, and the island of Aegina. Production involved international industry talent, focusing on themes such as gastronomy, business travel, culture, and nature escapes.

Targeting International Markets

The strategy focuses on key international markets including the UK, Germany, France, and the US, aiming to integrate Attica into travellers' planning phases well in advance. Collaborations with airlines and tourism networks are set to support continued growth across the region.
