Economic pressures reshape travel trends
Rising living costs and geopolitical factors across the region are altering how people plan their vacations. According to new data from the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), the vast majority of travelers refuse to cancel their trips altogether, but they are adapting to financial constraints.
Around 21% of holidaymakers intend to select more affordable accommodations, while 19% plan to cut back on dining out at their destinations. Despite these hurdles, the tourism sector continues to adapt through smarter spending choices.
Rise in package tours and cruises
A key trend is the shift toward organized package holidays, with nearly half of those choosing them citing better value for money. At the same time, cruises are growing in popularity due to upfront pricing that covers most expenses in advance.
City breaks remain the most favored holiday category, followed by countryside getaways and multi-destination trips. Europe retains the lion's share of preferences, with Greece firmly securing its place among the top five destinations for international travelers.
