For property owners and investors operating short-term rentals in Greece, the update requires reviewing current house rules to ensure compliance.
Airbnb is updating its rules for hosts, restricting the cleaning tasks they can require guests to complete upon checkout. The new guidelines will apply to all bookings made from November 20, 2026. According to the company, the changes aim to clarify checkout expectations and prevent guests from performing time-consuming duties, particularly when separate cleaning fees have already been paid. Under the updated policy, hosts generally will not be able to require guests to remove bed sheets, take out rubbish, or wash and put away dishes. Exceptions will remain in specific circumstances, such as areas experiencing water restrictions where shower times may be limited, or requirements mandated by local laws or homeowners associations. Property rules will also be made more prominent during the booking process to ensure transparency for travellers before arrival.
Yavanet will keep updating from official sources.
