What is Thassos like?
Thassos is Greece's northernmost island, just off the coast of eastern Macedonia. It is very green, with pine forests running down to the sea, clear-water beaches, stone mountain villages and ancient Greek remains. It is known for its white marble, olive oil and honey. Being relatively close to Thessaloniki, it pairs well with a northern Greece trip.
When is the best time to visit Thassos?
June to September is beach season. July and August are busy with visitors from Greece and the Balkans. May and October suit nature walks, but the sea is cooler than on the southern islands.
