What it means for you

For investors and property owners in Greece, this initiative aims to simplify property management and reduce the need to coordinate between multiple municipal and tax offices. Note that this information is general and does not constitute legal or financial advice.

Streamlining Greek Property Records

Greek authorities are continuing efforts to digitize the real estate sector by advancing plans for a unified property hub. A related draft bill is expected to enter public consultation soon, aiming to bring together critical property information into a single digital file for every real estate asset in the country.

The new platform will pull data directly from various public sources in real time, covering urban planning details, tax records, municipal data, energy certificates, and more. This setup is designed to eliminate the need for citizens to manually gather documents from multiple disparate agencies.

Connecting Unique Identifiers

The functioning of the new hub relies on linking two unique identifiers: the National Cadastre code (ΚΑΕΚ) and the Property Identity Number (ΑΤΑΚ) assigned through the tax authority. Furthermore, a broader Property Registry and Management system (ΜΙΔΑ) is planned for the coming years to unify data from existing tax and registry databases.

Benefits for Citizens and Transactions

According to the planning outlined by authorities, the centralized data approach will significantly reduce administrative burdens, minimize the risk of discrepancies between different state databases, and speed up property transfers for buyers, sellers, and legal professionals alike.
