Note on Labour Day 2027
In 2027, 1 May falls on the Saturday of Easter week. In such years the Greek government usually moves the holiday to a day after Easter (as in 2021 and 2024). The new date is announced close to the time, and we will update this page when it is.
Good to know
- Sundays: most shops in Greece are closed on Sundays, except in tourist areas and on a few Sundays a year.
- Tourist areas: on the islands and in tourist centres many shops, restaurants and supermarkets stay open on holidays.
- Local holidays: every town also celebrates its patron saint's day, when schools and local municipal offices are usually closed.
- Transport: on the major holidays public transport runs a reduced schedule.
