For investors and Israelis following the Greek real estate and hospitality market, this major transaction highlights continued institutional interest in central Athens properties. Always consult qualified professionals before making investment decisions.

Expanding into the Athens Urban Market

Cyprus-based hospitality and real estate group MHV Mediterranean Hospitality Venture has expanded its footprint in Greece by acquiring the Moxy Athens City hotel. The transaction marks the group's first venture into the Athens urban hotel market, following previous investments in Greek leisure destinations.

The 200-room property, located near Omonia Square in central Athens, operates under Marriott International’s lifestyle-oriented Moxy brand. Originally developed by Dimand SA and Prodea Investments, the hotel opened in 2022 and features a distinct design concept that replaces traditional reception desks with a combined bar and check-in area.

Management and Strategic Growth

Under the terms of the agreement, MHV has taken over the management of the property, aligning with its operational approach across its existing portfolio in Cyprus and Greece. The hotel also features a unique ninth-floor penthouse suite combining accommodation with indoor and outdoor event spaces overlooking the Acropolis and Lycabettus Hill.

Prior to this acquisition, MHV's presence in Greece included properties in Porto Heli and Paros. The addition of the Athens asset supports the group's wider strategy to grow its hospitality and real estate activities across Greece and the Eastern Mediterranean region.
