For Israelis and international investors looking into Greek real estate or regional settlement, staying informed on government grants is essential. Expansion to Border Islands

Greece is moving forward with plans to expand its financial relocation incentive to more remote areas. Social Cohesion and Family Minister Domna Michailidou announced in a television interview that the third phase of the €10,000 relocation grant program will cover border islands. The program currently targets mainland border regions, where the second phase has drawn significant interest with thousands of applications submitted shortly after the platform opened.

The initiative is accessible to individuals living both within Greece and abroad, including Greek expatriates seeking to return. According to the ministry, funding is fully secured and backed by an agreement with the Ministry of Finance to top up resources if demand exceeds expectations.

Complementary Housing Initiatives

The relocation grant works alongside a broader package of government measures aimed at revitalising local communities and the housing sector. These include the "Spiti mou 3" home-buying scheme, the "Anakainizo" renovation program, the abolition of the ENFIA property tax for small settlements, and the establishment of new healthcare facilities in targeted areas.

Additionally, authorities are preparing to release the guidelines for the second phase of the "Anakainizo – Noikiazo" (Renovate – Rent) program. This scheme aims to help property owners renovate currently vacant homes and bring them back into the active rental market.
